Annual Karate Demonstration – Saturday, April 5, 2014
Dear Parents, Friends and Fellow Students:
We invite you and your guests to our annual Karate Demonstration. We are going to perform a special demonstration including all active students, both children and adults, from white belt through black belt ranks. Our demonstration will include authentic traditional Okinawan karate, Uechi-Ryu kata, conditioning and kumite. A brief history and narrative will accompany a strong and beautiful performance by our students. We hope you can join us for a fun and informative evening. Our students have worked very hard and would like to share what they have learned with their family and friends.
WHEN: Saturday, April 5, 2014, 7:30 – 9:00 P.M.
WHERE: Sacred Heart High School, Student Activities Center (SAC Building), 399 Bishop’s Highway (Route 80), Kingston, MA
Directions: Take Route 3 to Samoset Street (Exit 6B from the North and Exit 6 from the South). Follow Samoset Street west toward Carver for 1.9 miles, bear right and continue on Carver Road for .2 miles, take right onto Route 80-Plympton Road for 1.6 miles. Sacred Heart High School is located on the right. Take a right into the parking lot immediately after the athletic field. Follow the driveway around the field and you will see the SAC building next to the field.
ADMISSION: Adults = $10.00 Children 5–17 = $5.00 Participating Students – no charge
All participants should arrive at Sacred Heart High School’s SAC building by 7:00 p.m. to warm up. Please wear or bring your complete karate uniform (jacket, pants and belt). All students are urged to participate. Performance is a key component of training. Please note there will be no classes held Saturday, April 5, due to the demonstration that evening.

An Okinawan-certified master instructor (Hanshi – 9th Degree) Black Belt, Peter is a personal student of Walter Mattson. Peter is the owner and the principal instructor of the Plymouth school and an active participant in the ongoing international karate and cultural exchange program. He has trained with the Okinawan masters, both in the United States and Okinawa.
As a tournament competitor, Peter has competed on the local, national and international levels. His career in competition began in 1969 and lasted through 1981. He won local, regional and AAU Karate Championships in both kata and kumite divisions.
In May of 1993 Peter McRae was nominated and appointed tothe Massachusetts Governor’s Committee on Physical Fitness and Sports where he served for three terms. In conjunction with Children’s Hospital, Peter has coauthored a study on the effects of karate on children.
